- Cut back stems of perennials
- Remove annuals from their plant beds
- Remove all debris that fungi may try to make home for the winter
- Redistribute old mulch and refine your plant bed edges.
- Remove moldy or root filled mulch
- Add a layer of mulch to plant beds – especially those that are less likely to be covered in snow
- Protect the tender bark of young trees from gnawing critters by wrapping stems or trunks with wire or commercial tree-guard products.
